Doing something new is almost always a challenge and this week's Adventures in Babysitting Computing definitely left me puzzled often!
While I have always been comfortable using computers, I wouldn't say that I am all that good with code. Whether it is very simple markup, scripting, or those programming languages that look otherworldly, I've more often than not found myself very intimidated. Markdown really seems to be where I am most comfortable.
(Although I'm a trans stereotype in so many ways, programming, gaming, and technology aren't on the list!)
So when I went out looking for a sort of halfway point between doing this website all by hand and giving up and heading back to Wordpress for this personal website (which I still use for two other sites: lottiephoto.ca and historynerd.ca), and found 11ty, which really seemed exciting!
And it is!
Once I began to understand how it works (I still don't really).
Nevertheless, thanks to tutorials like petrapixel's, Flamed Fury's, Stephanie Eckles', cfjedimaster's, Elle Townsend's, and Sophie Koonin's, I was able to convert this very website!
Also thanks to many of those tutorials above, I was even able to muddle through and use GitHub to push this site to neocities!
And now, I am hoping everything Just Works^TM^, and I can blog away happily! laughs nervously
Today's the day for Kathleen and I to take a little trip to Almonte for a Hallmark Christmas Lesbian Adventure!
Update: Nope. Far too much snow has accumulated and we do not want to risk being out there on rental car all-seasons. Not with how people tend to drive and not in these snowy conditions. We've re-booked the rental for next weekend, when it's supposed to be nicer. Today will be an Urban Lesbian Christmas, with a visit to the National Gallery, a little shopping, and Thai for lunch!
Almonte is one of those very cute little towns nearby with all sorts of shops and restaurants and lovely things like that and, perhaps unsurprisingly, like Ottawa, Almonte is also used as a filming location for those holiday movies!
