It's not just a Month • It's a Season

Every year, once June 1 rolls around and much of North America is festooned with rainbows, I am reminded that, for various reasons (some good, some less-good), Ottawa's Pride does not take place until mid-to-late August.

Although we normally have a great time and quickly forget that most other places across the continent put their decorations away weeks ago, I always feel just a little deflated at the same time as others are getting started.

On the other hand, nothing stops us from enjoying as many events as we can and, frankly, a more positive (and accurate) way to look at it is that we get to enjoy a whole Pride season. From the beginning of June, stretching almost to Labour Day, not only do we get non-local festivities (i.e. Toronto), but as a general month of observation, life's background feels a little more multichrome than the rest of the year.

And, I mean, you don't have to take it from me: it's how the federal Government positions it too. I don't make the rules.

That's not even my Department!

Everything in its Right Place

I had the opportunity for a brief virtual consultation with the surgical clinic earlier today, which went very well. I had a few outstanding questions for them and the answers to most of them were particular to me as a patient, so the answers would not have been in the (extensive) guidance they have already sent me.

One thing that came out of the conversation was that, given the circumstances of my overall health, they felt that the risks were very low and that I can indeed resume HRT.

I expect that it will take a few days to feel right again, but that is good news indeed!

...and if that wasn't enough, an electro appointment opened up for tomorrow around my regular time, so I don't have to feel like I've fallen behind!
