Odds & Ends & Chilly Winter Sundays

Since the weather continued its bright-and-frigid ways, our Sunday was spent mostly indoors in full hobby-and-chores mode.

The Gremlins of Doubt Dropped By

Having been over six weeks since I last developed film in C-41, some reliable anxieties kicked in. Namely, the fear that if I were to leave it much longer, I would forget how and have to learn all over again, risking a disappointing roll. I understand that this is quite silly, but the little gremlins were insistent.

It was entirely too cold this morning for me to want to be out all that long, so I loaded a roll of the "Made in U.S.A." Fujicolor 200 (i.e. Fuji-branded-Kodak for our errands this morning with the intent of getting through half of the roll.

Once we got home, I cut the exposed half out of the camera and developed it, proving to my little gremlin once again that I could still do it. I'm sure she'll be back again to cast a little doubt. Perhaps with slide, which I haven't developed any of in almost two months.

Dinner Inspiration Dropped By Too!

For one reason or another, we've been getting dinner ideas more frequently lately. It might be our finding that 1:1 vegan replacements of our "usual half-dozen" dishes haven't all been a success, or it might be the slower pace of the holiday season.

Whatever it is, we're both into it.

Tonight's dinner was quite welcome with the cold: just a basic shepherd's pie with veggie ground, mashed potatoes, and mushroom gravy. It's not the sort of thing that we made often before, so it was nice to branch out a little.

Crossing Another Task from my 11ty List

I also got around to adding an rss feed to lottiejoy.ca! I had always intended to do so, and it was on my list of things that I wanted to do as part of learning 11ty.

Since I was not trying to do anything all that novel or fancy, following their guidance worked exactly as I wanted it to!

So if you would like to follow along as I add new posts, you can! :)

Personally, I am a fan of newsboat here on my desktop and I use Reeder Classic on my phone.

Delighting in my Partner's Ambition

I've probably mentioned it before. In fact, I know that I have!

I might be a little biased, but Kathleen is a super talented writer. In addition to being a fantastic sewist, knitter, and quilter. If you happen to see me around, there’s a pretty good chance I’m wearing something she has made too.

Kathleen is just so very very very talented and I'm a very lucky lady to be with her!

At her website - The Heavy Pen - she just finished off a 365-day writing project and now she's getting ready to draft a novel!

Today, as I was buzzing around the apartment developing film, making dinner, and adding the rss feed to this site, she was busy doing research for her book. Searching, adding things to Scrivener, and just getting all excited about where she hopes to go with it all!

I'd be off in my little personal world and she'd excitedly share some new fact she learned or try to iron out some plot thing or world building item or historical fact.

I just love to see her percolating away! <3
